OPENHAUS at ZK/U Berlin

As part of OPENHAUS July at ZK/U Berlin, the project Up-Dates on Weather by metaLAB (at) Berlin presents a prototype of their ongoing research on common interfaces between weather, bees, humans, data, truth, and climate change.

On July 18 from 7 pm (CEST), the residents of ZK/U Berlin – Center for Art and Urbanistics – will open the doors of their studios for OPENHAUS JULY.

In July, OPENHAUS invites you to get to know the work of the artists in residence who currently live and work at ZK/U. Take the opportunity to talk to artists and researchers on site, find out about ongoing projects at ZK/U and take a look at methods and processes that otherwise often take place behind closed doors.

Up-Dates on Weather

During OPENHAUS, metaLAB (at) Berlin, in collaboration with ClimArt, situated within ZK/U Berlin, will provide insights into the ongoing work of its practice-based research project Up-Dates on Weather. Using methods of data visualization, interfacing and public engagement, the audience will be entangled in a process of knowledge production and perception of weather data. Each individual’s sensory system becomes the source to personalize visualizations that can be tattooed on site.

Up-Dates on Weather aims to trace in-betweenness, hybridity, and the grotesque dimensions of algorithms and data as versions of how technology constructs new human and non-human relationships. By exhibiting visualizations and objects, we aim to make these complex relationships accessible to a broad public audience. Upcoming activities in close cooperation with ClimArt include an exhibition at ZK/U, participating within a podcast series, an educational seminar at Freie Universität Berlin, and more.
