Davide Picca teaches and works at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. With an academic background that spans philosophy, cognitive psychology, and computer science, his work has long been dedicated to exploring the intersection between the humanities and artificial intelligence. He has conducted research and teaching at several international institutions, including Columbia University in New York, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, and the Microsoft European Development Center in Dublin. His research focuses on how machines represent and process language and knowledge, with particular attention to the cultural and cognitive dimensions of AI. He has published extensively on these topics. He is the co-author of ChatGPT e intelligenze artificiali: Una biografia intellettuale (Fandango, 2025), an essay that explores both the meaning and the misconceptions surrounding generative AI in today’s imagination.

He is directly involved in the Peirce Interprets Peirce project, developed in collaboration with the metaLAB and funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), which explores new ways of interpreting texts and meanings by combining semiotics with artificial intelligence.
