Markus Krajewski

Markus Krajewski is Professor of Media History at the University of Basel, Switzerland. He is the author of Paper Machines. About Cards & Catalogs, 1548–1929 (The MIT Press, 2011), Der Diener. Mediengeschichte einer Figur zwischen König und Klient (S. Fischer, 2010) [= The Server. A Media History from the Present to the Baroque, Yale University Press, 2018], and of Restlosigkeit: Weltprojekte um 1900 (S. Fischer, 2006)[= World Projects. Global Information Before WWI, University of Minnesota Press, 2014]. Bauformen des Gewissens. Über Fassaden deutscher Nachkriegsarchitektur, Stuttgart, 2016. His current research projects include a deep history of AI, the problem of planned obsolescence, media and architecture, cooking and coding as a cultural technique, and the cultural history of pedantry. He is also developer and maintainer of the bibliography software synapsen—a digital card index (www.synapsen.ch).
