On May 22, the residents and projects situated at ZK/U Berlin – Center for Art and Urbanistics – will open the doors of their studios for OPENHAUS.

OPENHAUS invites you to get to know the work of the artists who currently live and work at ZK/U. Take the opportunity to talk to artists and researchers on site, find out about ongoing projects at ZK/U and take a look at methods and processes that otherwise often take place behind closed doors.

Algorithmic Ecologies

During OPENHAUS, metaLAB (at) Berlin, in collaboration with Berlin Open Lab and ClimArt, situated within ZK/U Berlin, will present first ideas on rainwater installations that will be located nearby the newly installed rainwater drainage system on the platform of the ZK/U building. Part of this iteration is an experimental survey that feeds into the design and discussions of the two day hack on May 26 and 27. The collected information will be used as inspiration for the development of artistic prototypes of urban rainwater sculptures.

Project partners: Freie Universität Berlin (metaLAB), Berlin University of the Arts (Berlin Open Lab + Weizenbaum Institute), Technische Universität Berlin (Einstein Center Digital Future), ZK/U Berlin – Center for Art and Urbanistics.
