GATHER — Land, Resources, and Relations is the first of three symposia in the series ¿SUSTAINABLE? ENOUGH, curated by Raffaella Colombo and hosted by metaLAB (at) Harvard.
The series explores the meanings, contradictions, and contested claims that surround the topic of sustainability. GATHER focuses on the relationships by means of which landscapes are shaped, inhabited, and transformed, from practices associated with belonging and the assumption of collective responsibility to emerging forms of governance and collaboration across the human/non-human domains.
GATHER examines the intimate connections between land, resources, and social relations, questioning how landscapes are inhabited; resources are valued, accessed, and shared; and relationships are formed, negotiated, and transformed. It explores how these interdependencies shape communities, cultural identities, and collective practices, while challenging the boundaries between ownership and belonging, extraction and reciprocity, individual agency, collective responsibility, ideas of agency, authorship, and coexistence.
GATHER asks not only what we collect and preserve, but also who participates, who assumes actual stewardship, and what specific forms of interdependence are likely to contribute to successful and sustainable collective futures.
