AI & Tell: AI Use, Disclosure, and Deceit
metaLAB Discussion & Mingle
- Location
- 42 Kirkland Street, Cambridge, MA

By now we have established AI policies for our classrooms with varying degrees of success, but what about everywhere else? Beyond the generative AI tools that are embedded in our workflows, when we opt to use AI to write or create something, should we reveal that use? The answer for most of us is “it depends.” Recommendation letters are probably okay? Wedding vows, probably not. This conversation will dive into the nuances of AI use, disclose, and deceit. Through dialogue, we’ll surface examples, personal anecdotes, historical precedents, and emerging expectations across sectors. We may converge on when the use of AI tools need to be cited or disclosed, or we may realize that having an agreement on norms is either unrealistic or unimportant. In any case, it will be a lively, thought-provoking conversation.
Unlike our regular metaLAB work-shares, this will be discussion, not a presentation. We’ll kick off the conversation with a few remarks by David Weinberger (writer, philosopher), Isabella Roden (BKC comms director), and Ilan Manouach (comics artist); moderated by Sarah Newman. It will be great fun, with a reception to follow.
All are welcome!
