On May 29–30, 2025, editors, publishers, artists, and researchers will gather in Berlin for a Wayzgoose—a historical tradition of printers and bookmakers, reimagined for experimental and collective publishing. Hosted by Temporal Communities, continent. and partners, this event explores editorial work as a transformative, care-driven practice. Too often, publishing is shaped by extractive economies, invisible labour, and competitive frameworks. This Wayzgoose asks: What if editing focused on expansion, support, and the unexpected rather than refinement and correction?
Through discussions, workshops, and a participatory publishing ‘Hologram’ (Cassie Thornton), we will explore publishing as solidarity, accompaniment, and a scene of identity shaped by race, gender, and power. As infrastructures prioritise efficiency and profit, this gathering seeks another way that values slowness, iteration, and collaboration, reclaiming publishing as an ongoing, relational process.
